You will also be eligible for the following benefits:

  • Car hire - access to a Group B car for 48 hours should you need it in the event of your car being stolen in a hijacking or home invasion.
  • Locksmith - R1000 cover to replace the locks at your primary residence in the event that your house keys have been stolen or if your primary residence door leading into the house has been damaged.
  • Security guard - in the event of you being hijacked at your primary residence or your home being invaded, a security guard can be posted there for 24 hours.
  • Hotel accommodation - In the event of a home invasion you will be eligible for up to R2000 to help cover the cost of hotel accommodation for one night if you feel unsafe at your primary residence.
  • Private investigation services - should you need it you will have access to private investigation services up to the value of R25 000 per annum.
  • Trauma counselling - having suffered a traumatic experience you will also have access to trauma counselling provided by trained medical professionals for you and your family up to the value of R5000 per person or R20 000 per family.

You will need to contact our emergency contact centre to activate the Help in a Box benefits.

The Help in Box benefit is only available to Premier Select clients on FNB's Comprehensive Pricing Option. This pricing option also offers clients the opportunity to save on bank fees. If you are able to maintain a balance of R10 000 or more in your Cheque Account and R15 000 in any of FNB's Savings and Investment accounts, you will receive the following monthly benefits:

  • Pay no monthly account fee
  • Make unlimited free qualifying electronic transactions using Online Banking, Telephone Banking and the FNB Banking App for transactions like debit orders, card purchases, payments and transfers
  • Make six free FNB ATM withdrawals

  1. When can I make use of the benefit?
    In the unfortunate event of a home invasion or hijacking you have access to the Help in a Box benefit.
  2. Who qualifies for the benefit?
    Help in a Box is a complimentary benefit for FNB Premier Select Cheque Account holders, on the Comprehensive Pricing Option.
  3. How do I use the benefit?
    You will need to contact the emergency contact centre on 0861 102 170 for assistance. We will then dispatch a courier to deliver the Help in a Box benefits. Your Cheque Account needs to be active and in good standing to use the benefit.
  4. What if I'm a Premier Select client, but my account is not on the Comprehensive Pricing Option?
    Unfortunately, you won't have access to the Help in a Box benefits. To change to the Comprehensive Pricing Option you can call 087 575 9404 or visit your nearest FNB branch.
  5. How long will it take for the Help in a Box to reach me?
    If you live in Johannesburg, Cape Town or Durban, delivery will be within 2 hours.
    If you live in other major metropolitan areas, delivery will be within 24 hours.
    If you live in a rural area, delivery will be within 48 hours.
  6. Can I make my own arrangements and then claim back from the emergency call centre?
    Unfortunately not. All arrangements made independently will be for your own account. You need to contact the emergency contact centre for assistance.
  7. If I am away for business, and there is an incident at my primary residence, can my spouse make use of the benefit?
    Yes, your spouse would just need your ID number for verifcation when she contacts the emergency contact centre.
  8. Will I need to give back the cellphone that I get as part of the Help in a Box benefit?
    No. You can keep the cellphone, but you will need to RICA the SIM card in your name after 30 days if you wish to continue using it.
  9. Can I use the FNB eWallet Pro debit card that I get as part of the Help in a Box benefit to withdraw money?
    Yes, this card has a PIN and can be used at any ATM for cash withdrawals. The frst withdrawal from an FNB ATM is free, or you can draw cash at the till at selected Pick n Pay, Spar, Boxer Store, and Checkers & Shoprite stores at no charge.
  10. Do I need to return the FNB eWallet Pro debit card?
    No, you don't need to return the card.
  11. What if I lose the FNB eWallet Pro debit card or it is stolen?
    If the card is stolen a new card will not be issued.
  12. Does my car have to be stolen in a hijacking for me to qualify for the car hire benefit?
    Yes, you must own the vehicle, have a valid driver's licence and the vehicle must have been reported stolen to the South Africa Police Services to use this benefit.
  13. What do I do if my driver's licence has been stolen along with my car?
    In the event that your driver's licence is stolen, an affdavit from the South African Police Services or a temporary driver's licence must be provided to use the car hire benefit.
  14. What should I do if my keys have been stolen during the incident?
    If your keys are stolen or the door leading into your house has been damaged, you can request the service of a locksmith to assist. This benefit provides you with R1000 cover per annum. Any costs over and above this will be for your own account.
  15. What happens if I feel unsafe after a hijacking or home invasion at my primary residence?
    In the event of you being hijacked at your primary residence or your home being invaded, a security guard can be posted there for 24 hours. In the event of a home invasion you will be eligible for up to R2000 (per night, per event) to help cover the cost of hotel accommodation for one night if you feel unsafe at your primary residence.
  16. How do I access the private investigation services?
    The benefit is contingent on you providing the emergency contact centre with a South African Police Services case number for the crime committed.
  17. What does the trauma counselling benefit include?
    Trauma counselling up to the value of R5000 per person or R20 000 per family can be requested by trained medical professionals to you and your family (if applicable) in respect of psychiatric consultations to deal with the effects of the hijacking or home invasion.
  18. Who can I contact for further assistance?
    Please contact our emergency contact centre on 0861 102 170 if you require any further assistance, including help in obtaining a case number from the South Africa Police Services.
